Tenaya Yarbrough Maxwell is a passionate educator, licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, author, and advocate for inclusive education. With over 26 years of experience serving children and families across California, Tenaya has dedicated her life to helping individuals find their voice, both in communication and in identity.

As a mother, educator, and woman of faith, Tenaya has witnessed firsthand the gaps in our educational systems, especially for students with diverse learning needs, cultural backgrounds, and emotional challenges. Her journey as a parent of a child with special needs further fueled her desire to create a safe, affirming, and empowering learning environment for all students.

Tenaya founded Mosaic Learning Charter School with a vision to reimagine education, one that honors each child’s uniqueness while providing academic rigor, emotional support, and community connection. She believes that when students are seen, supported, and celebrated, they are capable of achieving greatness.

Through Mosaic, Tenaya is creating more than just a school, she’s building a movement that embraces every learner as a valuable piece of the greater whole. Her mission is to equip children not only with knowledge, but with confidence, compassion, and purpose.
